Dallas Wine Trail to Benefit Greyhound Adoption League of Texas
We have discovered through the years that there is only one thing our readers enjoy more than indulging in good food and drink, and that is indulging in good food and drink while benefiting a great cause. We have exactly that opportunity for you with the Dallas Wine Trail on July 23rd to benefit the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas. The beautiful dog shown to the right is Lacy, and in case you can’t tell, she’s begging you to buy a ticket for this amazing afternoon.
This event is being hosted jointly by Inwood Estates, Calais Winery, Times Ten Cellars, and Fuqua Winery. You get to go to each location one-by-one enjoying wine tastings along with bites of food. Naturally, the wine comes from the winery. The food will showcase an area artisan or restaurant such as Rex’s Seafood, Mozzarella Company, or Kathleen’s Sky Diner.
When you start your excursion at either Times Ten Cellars or Fuqua Winery, you will receive a commemorative Riedel glass and a tasting ticket. When you get to Inwood Estates, show them your tasting ticket, and you’ll receive a complimentary bottle of wine. Since just the glass and the bottle of wine would cost more than your ticket, consider all the food and drink to be a complimentary side benefit.
In case you’re not familiar with the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, let us give you a little basic information. GALT is a 501(c)3 non-profit all-volunteer group dedicated to placing greyhounds, primarily those that competed and trained for racing, into loving homes. GALT facilitates the adoption of greyhounds by providing kennel services and foster homes along with their medical needs, including spay and neuter, assisting them with the transition from track-life to home-life, and educating the public about why the greyhound has been a favored companion dog for more than 4,000 years.
The cost for this event is $55 per person and includes a Riedel glass, 3 tastings at each winery, hors d’oeuvres, and a bottle of wine from one of the participating wineries. You must purchase your ticket in advance. Tickets will not be available the day of the event, so go to www.galtx.org to purchase your ticket by July 21st or call 214-315-4068.
